ALL DOGS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Some of our dogs come from auctions in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and other states, where unwanted dogs from commercial dog kennels are sold. Our goal also, as a rescue, is to save them from the breeding cycle, from living in a small cage and standing on wire; to give some health, happiness and love to a few lucky ones. Some dog auctions are close-out sales when a commercial kennel has gone out of business. Other times the breeders may be selling dogs that are a little older or a little large for the breed standard. Many times there are just too many young males at the sale (a breeder only needs one), or puppies that have gotten too old to go to a pet shop. Occasionally it will be a female that wasn't a good mom or one who lost a litter. All of our dogs are SPAYED OR NEUTERED BEFORE ADOPTION.

All of our rescues will need time adjusting to new homes because most have lived their lives in cages before they were rescued from this life. The whole world is a new experience for them. Much of this is enjoyable for the dogs. Imagine never standing in grass before or being close to a tree. Some have never felt the wind in their fur.

And most important, most have never known love.

Adopting one of our fur babies is sometimes like adopting a special needs child; most, if not all, will require extra energy, extra patience and extra-ordinary love from their new owners. You are not buying a dog, you are adopting a child with fur that will have some issues which can be overcome. We strongly recommend that all adopters take their new dogs to obedience to help with their transition.

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

NEWS!!:
Due to the "Spring Auctions" and the diligence of some of our contacts & volunteers we have succeeded in freeing 85 of these wonderful little dogs from a life of breeding, and they are currently in various stages of vetting and moving on to foster homes.  From 4 1/2 week old puppies to 10 y/o adults.  Many, many are young females and this is HUGE as this is also taking more & more out of the "system" that provides puppies to the pet stores.  ONE female can have 2 litters per year with an average of 4 puppies per litter - so at least 8 puppies per female are not making their way to stores...next take that times 20 females - the numbers are overwhelming x the lifetime of these females, especially when that also stops the females held back or them getting into the hands of other irresponsible breeders.  The dogs are SAFE now and on
their way to finding new & loving homes.

We have also welcomed 4 new puppies into our group just 2 weeks after their mama's freedom!  They are doing very well and are in good care until they are ready for adoption.

It is also an "average cost" of $400.00 per dog, from auction, to vet's office, to their forever home.   We are not here to make money, we are here to spare these dogs a life of misery on the wire!  If you would like to donate to assist our efforts to vet the kids, please contact us at:
info@luvachinrescue.org

If you aren't able to adopt, please consider a donation as a Buddy or to our general Medical/Vet fund to assist us.

Meet Bette!

This little beauty was one of our auction kids - at only 5 months old.  Her future was not bright at all, but she is now one of the lucky ones.  She has Grade 4 luxating patellas on both legs and  just had her first surgery  on 4-14-08, to repair her left leg, a large umbilical hernia and has been spay.  In 3 weeks, she will have her 2nd surgery to repair her right leg.  Then she will require physical therapy for correct healing.

Would you like to help us with Bette's medical bills?  If so, please click the link below and read her story:

Please see this link, if you would like to make a donation - please understand - no amount is too small! - to help Bette walk! We are in the process of starting her knee surgeries (both require extensive repair for luxating patellas!)

--- What is Fundable?
Fundable.com lets groups of people pool money to make purchases or raise funds. Similar to online auctions, Fundable's collection pages are created by people who use the web site. Each page contains a description of how much money needs to be collected and what it will do. Once enough pledges for a
collection have been secured, Fundable turns them into real payments and sends the total to the collection's organizer.

If a collection expires before reaching its total in pledges, Fundable deletes all pledges and never charges money.
We have met the fundraiser limit we set for Bette through Fundable.com, but the final bill is not yet known, all funds over & above the $600.00 will be used exclusively for vet expenses of our kids!  A Heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us raise funds for Bette!  We will keep you posted on her progress on her petfinder profile.
