Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. This page is dedicated to those we have loved and lost too soon. They are forever in our hearts.
My sweet baby girl - Taijah I still miss your sweet little kisses - take care of the pups until I am there to help you.
Miss Sophie Ann My little princess, may you fly with the angels until we are together again. Bailey - dearly loved by my parents, Karen & Al, crossed Rainbow Bridge, September 25, 2007 We met Happy during a transport in the fall of 2005. She was a beautiful, 12yr old red/white Chin who happened to be deaf and blind. I had never met a dog with so much confidence and I said if she ever needed a home to let me know. A few months later, she joined my family. A trip to vet confirmed her problems. She had severe ear infections in both ears that had ruptured her eardrums. She also had a detached lens in one eye and was blind in the other thanks to untreated eye infections. This poor little girl was in constant pain. To make things worse, she had a collapsed trachea and would wake up at night gasping for air. To say she had some challenges would have been an understatement! Happy was, however, one of the most amazing dogs I have ever met. Although she couldn't see or hear, she had absolutely no fear. As far as she was concerned, she was perfect and world revolved around her. We called her Princess Happy for a reason! Five short months later, fate delivered another blow to this beautiful little lady. One night, she took a noticeable decline. By morning, it was obvious something was seriously wrong. A trip to the vet confirmed it, her heart was failing. Her poor little body just couldn't overcome this last assault. Happy quietly left this world knowing she was loved and that makes all the pain and anguish easier to bear. Happy never felt sorry for herself and always did the best she could with what she had. What magnificent lessons she taught. We miss you Happy and will keep you in our hearts always.
My Sophie
she joined me in May of 1995, went to the Rainbow Bridge 4/18/06 Sophie was the beginning of my love affair with Pekingese & Japanese Chins. She came to me purely by accident. I went into the Vet's office one morning to pick up some medicine for my Chow Chow Keisha...they had a sign posted that they had a dog for adoption. I had never known that to happen before so of course I inquired. They said "do you want to see her?" Before I knew it she was in my arms and I was being told to try her out for the weekend to see how it goes. I didn't even see what she looked like until we got to the car. She was a scrawny, funny looking girl, but when she put her paws on my shoulder and licked my cheek I was a goner. She had been picked up by the police as a "runaway" and no one ever claimed her. The Vet felt she was about a year old and said she was a Pekingese. She didn't look like any of the Pekingese I had seen in the dog shows, so I didn't believe the Vet. I then began my hunt for any small dog that looked similar, and came across the Japanese Chin breed in the dog books. It took a couple of years before I realized that all Pekingese do not look like the Westminster show dogs, and I had gone to see a litter of Japanese Chin puppies so I could see the difference myself! Sophie was the sweetest dog there ever was, she never met a dog, cat, child or adult she didn't love. She welcomed every new canine and feline arrival with open paws. Her last year was a tough one, she always had dry eye problems and suffered a horribly painful cornea rupture and had to have her eye removed. She left the surgeons office wagging her tail and became my one eyed pirate. She had had a couple of episodes with short seizures but came out of them ok in prior years, but in April of 2006 she had a series of seizures that were more than she could handle. Her little life had been such a wonderful gift to me, I knew it was up to me to let her go to a better place. Sophie was such a little trooper throughout her years and I know she would be happy to see our home filled with little Pekingese and Japanese Chin because of my love for her. This is a tribute to my foster girl CeCe, who was adopted by a wonderful new mom when she was 9 years old. CeCe came to my home as a foster...she showed me how a "senior" girl could learn house manners and showed me much love. I just received a note that she is also an Angel now after showering her mom with much love for a year. She was a beauty, in her outward appearance, but also in hear heart. Rest in peace my sweet CeCe Mama, I loved you dearly and I know your mom misses you terribly and loved you truly. May you & my Sophie Ann pass the time together until we are together. |
